AI Tokens & Usage

The AI assistant in GolemDrive runs on tokens. Think of tokens like credits — every time you ask the AI a question or have it perform a task, it uses some tokens. This page explains how tokens work and how to manage them.

Tokens are the currency that powers the AI assistant. When you type a message and the AI responds, both your message and its response consume tokens. Longer, more complex interactions use more tokens than simple ones.

You don’t need to count tokens yourself — GolemDrive tracks everything for you.

Every plan includes a monthly token allowance so you can use the AI assistant without paying anything extra. This is enough for regular, everyday use. If you find yourself using the AI a lot, you might run through your allowance before the month is up.

Want to see how many tokens you’ve used? Head to Account and open the AI Usage page. You’ll find:

  • Daily token consumption chart — a visual breakdown of how many tokens you’re using each day
  • History by model — see which AI model was used for each interaction and how many tokens it consumed
  • Remaining balance — your current token count, so you always know where you stand

If you run low on tokens, you can buy more at any time. Token packs are one-time purchases that add tokens to your balance immediately.

PackTokensPrice
Starter500$4.99
Standard2,000$14.99
Professional10,000$49.99

To buy a pack, go to the AI Usage page and click on the pack you want. Payment is handled through Stripe, so your purchase is secure and instant.

Once tokens are in your balance, they stay there until you use them. There’s no monthly reset or expiration date on purchased tokens. Buy them when you need them, use them whenever you want.

Different AI models cost different amounts of tokens per interaction. The AI Usage page shows you the cost per model, so you can see exactly how your tokens are being spent. Generally, simpler questions use fewer tokens, while complex multi-step tasks that require the AI to search through files, check multiple things, or take actions will cost more.

  • Be specific. A focused question like “how much storage am I using?” costs less than a vague one that requires the AI to ask follow-up questions.
  • Simple questions are cheap. Asking for a quick fact or a straightforward file search uses very few tokens.
  • Complex tasks cost more. If you ask the AI to search for files, create a share link, set a password, and send the link — all in one conversation — it will use more tokens because it’s doing more work.
  • Check your usage regularly. The AI Usage page makes it easy to see your consumption patterns and plan ahead.
