Premium Downloads
If you have a GolemDrive account, downloading files comes with extra features that make the experience faster and smoother. This page explains how premium downloads work and why you might want to create an account.
How premium downloads work
Section titled “How premium downloads work”Step 1: Log in to your GolemDrive account
Section titled “Step 1: Log in to your GolemDrive account”Make sure you’re signed in before you click a download link. You can log in from any page using the account button in the top-right corner.
Step 2: Open the download link
Section titled “Step 2: Open the download link”Click a download link or go to /premium to access your premium download page. Because you’re logged in, you won’t be asked to solve a CAPTCHA.
Step 3: Watch the download progress
Section titled “Step 3: Watch the download progress”The download starts automatically. You’ll see real-time progress information on the page:
- Download bar — Shows how many bytes have been downloaded out of the total file size.
- Decryption bar — Shows how many encrypted chunks have been decrypted so far.
- Log panel — A detailed step-by-step log of what’s happening behind the scenes, useful if something goes wrong.
Controls during download
Section titled “Controls during download”While a download is in progress, you have several controls available:
- Pause — Click the Pause button to stop the download temporarily. Your progress is saved.
- Resume — Click Resume to continue the download from where you stopped. You won’t have to start over.
- Cancel — Click Cancel to abort the download entirely. You’ll be asked to confirm before the download is stopped.
- Retry — If something goes wrong (a network hiccup, for example), click Retry to start the download again.
After the download completes
Section titled “After the download completes”Once the file is fully downloaded and decrypted, you’ll see:
- A green checkmark and a “Download complete” message.
- A file hash verification result, which confirms the file wasn’t corrupted during transfer.
- The file automatically saves to your device’s Downloads folder.
If the hash verification fails, it means the file may have been corrupted. Use the Retry button to download it again.
Why create an account?
Section titled “Why create an account?”You can download shared files without an account, but having one gives you these benefits:
- Skip CAPTCHAs — No more solving puzzles on every download.
- Faster download speeds — Logged-in users get priority bandwidth.
- Pause and resume — Stop a download and pick it up later without losing progress.
- Download history — See a record of everything you’ve downloaded.
- Follow creators — Get notified when your favorite uploaders share new files.
