Folders & Organization

A messy file collection is no fun. GolemDrive gives you all the tools you need to keep things organized, just like you would on your own computer.

Click the New Folder button in the toolbar. Give your folder a name, hit enter, and it appears right where you are. Simple as that.

You can create folders inside other folders, as deep as you want. Want a structure like Work > Projects > 2024 > Q3? Go for it. There’s no limit to how many levels deep you can go.

There are two ways to move things around:

  • Drag and drop — Grab a file and drag it onto a folder. Done.
  • Right-click menu — Right-click the file, choose Move, and pick the destination folder from the list.

Both work equally well. Use whichever feels more natural to you.

Need a file in two places? Right-click it and choose Copy. Pick the destination, and GolemDrive creates a copy there. The original stays right where it is.

Right-click any file or folder and choose Rename. Type the new name and press enter. Quick and painless.

On the left side of the dashboard, you’ll see a folder tree — a sidebar that shows your entire folder structure at a glance. Click any folder in the tree to jump straight to it. This is especially handy when you have a lot of nested folders and don’t want to click through them one level at a time.

Need to move or organize a bunch of files at once? Select multiple files (hold Ctrl or Cmd while clicking), then right-click to move, copy, or delete them all together.

  • Plan a simple structure. A few well-named top-level folders (like “Work,” “Personal,” “Photos”) go a long way. You can always add subfolders later.
  • Use descriptive names. Future-you will thank present-you when you can find things at a glance.
  • Drag folders too. You’re not limited to moving just files — you can drag entire folders into other folders to reorganize your structure.
