Trash & Recovery

We’ve all accidentally deleted a file. GolemDrive doesn’t permanently delete things right away — deleted files go to the Trash Bin first, giving you a chance to recover them.

When you delete a file or folder, it moves to the Trash Bin. It’s not gone for good yet — think of it like the recycling bin on your computer. The file disappears from its original location but sits safely in trash until you decide what to do with it.

Click Trash in the sidebar on the left side of the dashboard. You’ll see everything you’ve deleted, with the date it was deleted so you can find what you’re looking for.

Found something you want back?

  1. Go to the Trash Bin
  2. Select the file or folder you want to recover
  3. Click Restore

The file goes back to its original location, as if nothing ever happened. If the original folder was also deleted, GolemDrive will recreate it for you.

If you’re sure you want something gone for good:

  1. Go to the Trash Bin
  2. Select the file
  3. Click Permanent Delete

This is irreversible. Once a file is permanently deleted, it’s gone and cannot be recovered. GolemDrive will ask you to confirm before going through with it.

Want a clean slate? At the top of the Trash Bin page, there’s an Empty Trash button. This permanently deletes everything in your trash at once. Use this with care — there’s no undo.

  • Trash counts toward storage. Files in the Trash Bin still take up space in your account. If you’re running low on storage, emptying the trash is a quick way to free some up.
  • Check before you empty. It only takes a second to scroll through your trash before emptying it. Better safe than sorry.
  • Deleted folders keep their contents. If you delete a folder, everything inside it goes to the trash too. Restoring the folder brings back all its contents.
