Portal Notifications

GolemDrive notifications keep you informed about activity that matters to you — new followers, comments, tips, shared files, and more. You need a free GolemDrive account to receive notifications.

The notification bell

Look for the bell icon in the top-right corner of the portal. The number on the bell shows how many unread notifications you have. Click the bell to go to the Notifications page.

Viewing your notifications

1. Click the bell icon in the top-right corner, or navigate directly to the Notifications page.
2. You’ll see a list of all your notifications, with the newest at the top.
3. Each notification shows what happened, who was involved, and when it occurred.

Common notification types:

• New follower — someone followed your profile
• Comment — someone commented on your file
• Tip received — someone sent you a tip
• File shared — someone shared a file with you
• New upload — a creator you follow uploaded new content

Managing individual notifications

Mark a notification as read

1. Find the notification in your list.
2. Click Mark as read on that notification.
3. It will no longer count toward your unread badge number.

Mark all notifications as read

1. Go to the Notifications page.
2. Click Mark all as read at the top of the list.
3. All notifications are marked as read and the badge on the bell icon clears.

Delete a notification

1. Find the notification you want to remove.
2. Click Delete (or the trash icon) on that notification.
3. The notification is permanently removed from your list.

Notification preferences

You can control exactly which notifications you receive and how you receive them.

1. Go to the Notifications page.
2. Click the Preferences tab.
3. You’ll see toggle switches for each notification category:

Category	What it covers
New follower notifications	Someone follows your profile
Comment notifications	Someone comments on your file
File shared notifications	Someone shares a file with you directly
Tip/donation notifications	Someone sends you a tip

4. Toggle each category on or off depending on what you want to receive.

Push notifications

5. Find the Push notifications toggle in the Preferences tab.
6. Turn it on to receive browser push notifications even when you’re not on the GolemDrive site. Turn it off to only see notifications when you visit the portal.

Digest frequency

Instead of getting notified about every single event immediately, you can receive a summary.

7. Find the Digest frequency setting in the Preferences tab.
8. Choose one of three options:
   • Immediate — get notified right away for each event (default)
   • Daily summary — receive one notification digest per day with everything that happened
   • Weekly summary — receive one notification digest per week

Save your preferences

9. After making your changes, click Save at the bottom of the Preferences tab.
10. Your preferences take effect immediately.

Tips for managing notifications

• Turn off categories you don’t care about. If you’re not interested in follower notifications, switch them off. You can always turn them back on later.
• Use daily or weekly digests if you get too many notifications. This is especially useful if you have a lot of followers or you follow many active creators.
• Check the bell regularly. Notifications about shared files are time-sensitive — share links can expire.
• Delete old notifications. Keeping your notification list clean makes it easier to spot new activity.
