Uploading Files

Getting files into GolemDrive is as easy as it gets. Just drag them onto the page and you’re done. Here’s everything you need to know.

The quickest way to upload is to grab files from your computer and drop them right onto the GolemDrive dashboard. You’ll see a highlighted area appear — just let go, and the upload starts immediately.

Prefer clicking? Hit the Upload button in the top toolbar. A file picker opens where you can select one or more files from your computer.

You don’t have to go one by one. Select as many files as you want (hold Ctrl or Cmd while clicking) and upload them all in one go. GolemDrive handles them all at the same time.

When you upload several files, GolemDrive sends them in parallel — meaning multiple files are uploading at the same time rather than waiting in a single-file queue. This makes batch uploads noticeably faster, especially on a good internet connection.

Big files are handled automatically. Behind the scenes, GolemDrive splits large files into smaller pieces (called chunks) and sends each piece separately. If your connection hiccups, it only needs to retry the small piece that failed — not the entire file. You don’t need to do anything special; it just works.

Want to upload a whole folder? Drag the folder from your computer onto the dashboard. GolemDrive recreates the folder structure for you, including any subfolders and their contents. Everything lands in the right place.

Here’s the best part: every file is encrypted on your device before it ever leaves your computer. You don’t need to flip a switch or enter a password for each file — it happens automatically in the background. By the time your file reaches our servers, it’s already locked up tight and unreadable to anyone but you.

Each uploading file shows a progress bar so you can see exactly how far along it is. If you’re uploading a batch, you’ll see progress for each file individually.

  • Internet speed matters. Uploads go as fast as your connection allows. On a slower connection, large files will take longer, but they’ll get there.
  • Don’t close the tab. Keep the GolemDrive tab open while your files are uploading. If you close it mid-upload, you’ll need to start those files again.
  • Upload to a specific folder. Navigate to the folder you want first, then upload. Your files will land right where you need them.
