File Comments
Sometimes you need to say something about a file. Maybe it’s feedback on a design, a note about what changed in the latest version, or a question for your team. File comments let you do all of that without leaving GolemDrive.
Adding a comment
Section titled “Adding a comment”- Open any file by clicking on it in your dashboard
- Scroll down to the Comments section below the file preview
- Type your message in the comment box
- Hit Send
Your comment appears immediately and is visible to anyone who has access to the file.
Replying to comments
Section titled “Replying to comments”Comments support threads, so conversations stay organized. To reply to an existing comment:
- Find the comment you want to respond to
- Click Reply underneath it
- Type your response
- Hit Send
Replies are grouped under the original comment, making it easy to follow the conversation.
Editing your comments
Section titled “Editing your comments”Made a typo? Changed your mind about the wording? You can edit your own comments at any time.
- Find your comment
- Click Edit
- Make your changes
- Save
Only you can edit your comments — nobody else can change what you wrote.
Deleting your comments
Section titled “Deleting your comments”If you want to remove a comment entirely, click Delete on your own comment. Once deleted, it’s gone for good. You can only delete your own comments, not other people’s.
Who can see comments
Section titled “Who can see comments”Comments are visible to anyone who has access to the file. If you’ve shared a file with specific people, they can see and add comments. If a file is private and only you have access, only you’ll see the comments (which can still be useful for leaving yourself notes).
Great uses for comments
Section titled “Great uses for comments”- Feedback on shared documents — ask collaborators what they think about a report, proposal, or design
- Team discussion — talk about a file without switching to a separate chat app
- Version notes — leave a comment when you upload a new version explaining what changed
- Questions — ask the file owner a question right where the file lives
- Reminders — leave yourself a note about what still needs to be done with a file
