Content Safety & Moderation

GolemDrive is built to be a safe, trustworthy platform for everyone. Behind the scenes, there’s a content moderation system in place to make sure things stay that way.

To keep the platform healthy, certain types of content and behavior are off-limits:

  • Illegal content — anything that violates applicable laws
  • Harassment — threatening, bullying, or intimidating other users
  • Spam — mass-uploading junk files, flooding feeds, or sending unsolicited messages
  • Fraud — scams, phishing, or deceptive practices
  • Impersonation — pretending to be someone else, including other GolemDrive users, public figures, or organizations
  • Copyright violation — uploading content you don’t have the rights to (see Copyright & DMCA for more details)

GolemDrive’s moderation process is straightforward:

  1. Users report content or users — anyone can flag something they think violates the rules (see Reporting & Blocking)
  2. Reports go to the moderation queue — the GolemDrive team reviews every report
  3. Staff reviews and decides — moderators look at the reported content, check the context, and determine if a rule was broken
  4. Action is taken if needed — depending on the severity, different actions may be applied

When the moderation team finds a violation, they can take one or more of these actions:

  • Content removal — the offending file, share link, or comment is taken down
  • Account warning — the user receives a warning about their behavior
  • Temporary suspension — the user’s account is temporarily disabled for a set period
  • Permanent ban — in serious or repeated cases, the account is permanently removed from the platform

The action taken depends on the severity of the violation and whether the user has prior offenses.

Mistakes happen. If you receive a moderation action and believe it was unfair or incorrect, you can appeal.

You’ll receive a notification when a moderation action is taken against your account or content. That notification includes an option to appeal the decision. Write your explanation, and the moderation team will take another look.

Appeals are reviewed by a different moderator than the one who made the original decision, so you get a fresh pair of eyes on your case.

GolemDrive is committed to handling reports fairly and promptly. The moderation process aims to be:

  • Fair — every report is reviewed by a human, not just an algorithm
  • Timely — reports are handled as quickly as possible
  • Clear — if action is taken against you, you’ll know what happened and why
  • Consistent — the same rules apply to everyone, regardless of account size or status
