Filing a takedown notice
Section titled “Filing a takedown notice”If you find your copyrighted content being shared without authorization, here’s how to request its removal:
- Go to the DMCA page (found in the footer or help section)
- Fill out the takedown notice form with the following information:
- Your name and contact information
- A description of the copyrighted work you own
- Links to or descriptions of the infringing content on GolemDrive
- A statement that you believe the use is not authorized
- Your signature (electronic is fine)
- Submit the form
The GolemDrive team reviews every takedown request. Expect a response within a few business days.
What happens after you file
Section titled “What happens after you file”Once a valid takedown notice is received, the GolemDrive team will:
- Review the notice for completeness
- Remove or disable access to the reported content if the claim is valid
- Notify the user who uploaded the content
The uploader will be informed that their content was taken down and why.
Counter-notices
Section titled “Counter-notices”If your content was taken down and you believe it was a mistake — maybe you actually own the rights, or the content falls under fair use — you can file a counter-notice.
- Go to the DMCA page
- Select File a Counter-Notice
- Provide your information and explain why the takedown was incorrect
- Submit
The original claimant will then have a window to pursue legal action. If they don’t, your content may be restored.
EU Digital Services Act
Section titled “EU Digital Services Act”GolemDrive follows the EU Digital Services Act (DSA) requirements for content moderation. This means transparent handling of reports, clear communication with all parties involved, and the ability to appeal decisions.
Important things to know
Section titled “Important things to know”- False claims are illegal. Filing a fraudulent DMCA takedown notice is a legal offense. Only file if you genuinely own the copyright to the content in question.
- For partners: if a file you earn revenue from receives a valid DMCA takedown, earnings on that file are forfeited. You won’t receive payouts for content that violates someone else’s copyright.
- Both sides get a fair process. The takedown and counter-notice system exists so that legitimate copyright holders are protected, while content creators aren’t unfairly silenced.
