Storage Quotas & Limits
Every GolemDrive plan comes with limits on storage, bandwidth, and file count. These limits make sure the platform runs smoothly for everyone. Here’s what you need to know.
Storage
Section titled “Storage”Storage is the total space available for your encrypted files. When you upload a file, it gets encrypted on your device and then stored on GolemDrive’s servers. The encrypted size counts against your quota (it’s very close to the original file size — encryption adds minimal overhead).
| Plan | Storage |
|---|---|
| Free | 50 GB |
| Professional | 1 TB |
| Premium | 2.5 TB |
| Max | 7.5 TB |
Bandwidth
Section titled “Bandwidth”Bandwidth is the total amount of data you can upload and download each month. Every file upload and every file download counts toward your monthly bandwidth.
| Plan | Monthly Bandwidth |
|---|---|
| Free | 50 GB |
| Professional | 1 TB |
| Premium | 2.5 TB |
| Max | 7.5 TB |
Bandwidth resets on your billing date each month. If your billing date is the 15th, your bandwidth counter resets to zero on the 15th.
File count limits
Section titled “File count limits”Each plan also has a maximum number of files you can store:
| Plan | Max Files |
|---|---|
| Free | 100,000 |
| Professional | 1,000,000 |
| Premium | 2,000,000 |
| Max | 4,000,000 |
This includes files in your trash — so if you’re getting close to the limit, emptying your trash can free up file slots.
Folder depth limits
Section titled “Folder depth limits”Your folder hierarchy has a maximum nesting depth. This prevents issues with deeply nested structures and keeps navigation fast. For most users, the depth limit is more than sufficient for any reasonable folder organization.
Checking your usage
Section titled “Checking your usage”You can see your current usage at any time:
- Go to Account in the sidebar
- Your storage used, bandwidth used this month, and file count are displayed in real time
The usage indicators update instantly as you upload, download, and delete files — no waiting around for numbers to refresh.
What happens when you hit a limit
Section titled “What happens when you hit a limit”If you reach your storage or file count limit:
- Uploads are blocked — you won’t be able to upload new files until you free up space or upgrade
- Downloads still work — you can always access and download your existing files
- Sharing still works — your share links remain active and recipients can still download
If you hit your bandwidth limit:
- Uploads and downloads are paused until the next billing cycle or until you upgrade
- Share links remain active but downloads from them will also count against bandwidth
Freeing up space
Section titled “Freeing up space”A few ways to get back under your limits:
- Empty your trash — deleted files still count until the trash is emptied
- Remove old file versions — previous versions of files take up space too
- Delete files you no longer need
- Move files to Cold storage — this doesn’t reduce your file count, but Cold storage is more cost-efficient
Upgrading for more capacity
Section titled “Upgrading for more capacity”If you need more room, upgrading your plan is the fastest fix. Go to Account > Subscription and pick a higher plan. The upgrade takes effect immediately — your new limits are available right away, no waiting required.
