User Profiles

Every GolemDrive user has a profile. It’s your public-facing page where other people can learn about you, see your public files, and decide whether to follow you.

When someone visits your profile, they’ll see:

  • Display name — your chosen name on the platform
  • Bio — a short description about yourself
  • Avatar — your profile picture
  • Follower count — how many people follow you
  • Public files — files you’ve chosen to share publicly

You can view anyone’s profile in two ways:

  • By user ID: /profile/[userId]
  • By username: /u/[username]

The username URL is shorter and easier to share, which is why setting a custom username is a good idea.

Head to Settings to update your profile. You can change:

  • Display name — whatever you want people to call you
  • Bio — tell people a bit about yourself or what kind of files you share
  • Avatar — upload a profile picture

Changes are saved immediately and visible to everyone who visits your profile.

By default, your profile is accessible by your user ID, which is a long string of characters. You can set a custom username instead, making your profile much easier to find and share.

Go to Settings and look for the Username section. Your username must follow these rules:

  • Letters, numbers, hyphens, and underscores only
  • Maximum 30 characters
  • Must be unique (no two users can have the same username)

Once set, your profile is available at a clean URL like golemdrive.com/u/yourname.

Your custom username doubles as your vanity URL. Share golemdrive.com/u/yourname anywhere — on social media, in emails, on your website — and people will land right on your GolemDrive profile.

You control who can see your profile. There are three visibility options:

  • Public — anyone can see your profile and public files, even if they don’t have a GolemDrive account
  • Private — only your followers can see your profile and files
  • Friends only — only mutual follows (people you follow who also follow you back) can see your profile and files

Change your visibility in Settings at any time.

If you’re a content creator on GolemDrive, you can apply for a verified badge. This adds a small checkmark next to your name, letting people know your account is legitimate.

To apply, go to your Creator Settings and look for the verification option. The GolemDrive team will review your application and get back to you.
